Make Your Reservations Early for Sacramento Area Rafting or Water Rafting California Trips
Because we limit the size of our Sacramento rafting & water rafting California trips, the weekends usually fill up quickly. Reservations for Sacramento rafting & water rafting California trips are made on a first come, first served basis. When you select a river, call our office and check on availability of the start dates. After making a tentative reservation for your Sacramento rafting or water rafting California trip over the phone, a 50% deposit is due within 10 days. When you confirm your Sacramento rafting or water rafting California trip with your deposit, a confirmation packet will be sent. This packet contains all travel details, a map to the river, list of what to bring, a list of campgrounds and lodging in the area, and information on the optional insurance for Sacramento rafting & water rafting California trips. The remainder of your fare is due 28 days before the trip. Full payment is required for Sacramento rafting & water rafting California trip reservations made within 28 days of the trip. You can also use our online reservation form to start the reservation process for Sacramento rafting & water rafting California trips. American River Recreation accepts Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. To confirm your reservation with payment using one of these cards, please download and complete our Visa, MasterCard, and American Express signature form.

We also require each trip participant to complete our Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability Agreement Form. You can download and print the form, then bring it with you for check-in the morning of your Sacramento rafting or water rafting California trip.

Group Discounts
American River Recreation offers one free space for every 11 people who pay. Groups of 36 or more will receive an additional $10.00 off per person on 1 day trips, $20.00 off on 2 day trips. In order to earn this free Sacramento rafting or water rafting California trip, we ask the group organizer to help us with a few things. Please submit either one check or everyone's individual payments all at the same time in one envelope. If anyone chooses to charge their payment on Visa or MasterCard, they will need to complete a credit card authorization form with their signature, to be mailed or faxed to our office. We will then send the Sacramento rafting or water rafting California trip confirmation packet to the group organizer. It is then the responsibility of the organizer to distribute all important information in the packet, as well as our brochure, to all individuals participating on the Sacramento rafting or water rafting California trip.

If you're planning a Sacramento rafting or water rafting California trip for 12 or more, call our office for a free group organizer packet. This packet contains promotional items such as extra brochures, poster, sign-up sheets, a list of testimonials from some of our past clients and a few tips on organizing your trip.

Cancellations
Due to space restrictions, our Sacramento rafting & water rafting California trips often fill up. Please understand that when we hold your Sacramento rafting or water rafting California trip reservation for you, we are often forced to turn others away. Therefore, we have established the following cancellation policy for Sacramento rafting & water rafting California trips. Please read this information and pass it on to others in your group. Trip insurance is recommended for all Sacramento rafting & water rafting California trips and is available through our office.

Cancellation Policy: All but a reservation fee of $20.00 per person will be refunded up to four weeks before the start of the Sacramento rafting or water rafting California trip. We will refund 50% of the trip costs for cancellations made up to two weeks prior to the trip start. There are no refunds for cancellations made within two weeks of the Sacramento rafting or water rafting California trip start date.

River Conservation

River Classifications - Class I-VI

The following river classifications are a guide to help you select a whitewater rafting trip that is right for you and your group. If you have any questions as to which rafting run is best for your group, feel free to call our office. We will be more than happy to help you choose an appropriate whitewater rafting trip.


Class I - Very Easy: Flat moving water, no maneuvering required.

Class II - Easy: Small rapids, swift current, passages clear and wide. Some maneuvering required.

Class III - Medium: Waves numerous, high, irregular rapids with passages that are clear though narrow. Requiring expertise in maneuvering. Recommended for beginners and intermediates. Not to be attempted without a skilled guide.

Class IV - Difficult: Long rapids, waves powerful and irregular, dangerous obstacles. Precise maneuvering required. Do not attempt without an expert American River white water rafting guide. Recommended for healthy individuals with previous experience.

Class V - Very Difficult: Long and very violent rapids following each other almost without interruptions. Extremely obstructed, big drops and very steep gradient. Expert maneuvering required. Only for experienced, healthy individuals in good physical shape.
